| Mr. Johanson is an accomplished entrepreneur and executive manager in the orthopedic field, and brings over 15 years of experience in the medical device sector. In 2000, Mr. Johanson founded Scandius BioMedical, Inc, a venture-backed orthopedic sports medicine company. Serving as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer from 2000 to 2007, Scandius developed an innovative surgical device used in the repair of the torn anterior cruciate ligament. In November 2007, Scandius was acquired by Covidien, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies. He has held R&D and management positions at Nutramax Products, Medtronic, and Innovasive Devices (acquired by Johnson & Johnson). Mr. Johanson is an accomplished inventor with 15 issued patents in the arthroscopy, orthopedics, cardiology and tissue regeneration fields. Mr. Johanson holds a BSIT from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell. |

John Rice has over 20 years engineering and business experience in medical devices and orthopedics. He has directed engineering, regulatory affairs and quality assurance at private and venture-funded startups. John developed tissue repair implants for orthopedic sports medicine as Vice President of Research and Development for Innovasive Devices and Engineering Manager for Mitek Surgical Products. He played a key role in their successful IPOs and subsequent acquisitions by Johnson & Johnson. He is also a co-inventor on 19 patents.
